Theory:
Basic Music Theory:
Introduction to musical notes, scales,
intervals, and key signatures.
Understanding the foundation of
music theory applicable to both
guitar and piano.
Western Notation:
Learning the basics of Western
notation for both guitar and piano.
Understanding note values, rests,
time signatures, and rhythm.
Scales:
Practice of major and minor scales in
various positions and keys.
Introduction to modes and their
applications on guitar and piano.
Chord Construction:
Understanding of triads, seventh
chords, and extended chords.
Practice of major, minor, and
dominant chords in various
inversions on guitar and piano.
Arpeggios and Finger Techniques:
Practice of arpeggios and the
development of finger independence
for smooth, efficient playing.
Sight Reading:
Developing the ability to read sheet
music for both guitar and piano,
focusing on rhythm, pitch, and
dynamics.
Melodic Playing:
Focus on playing melodies, both
classical and contemporary, on both
instruments. Learn to express
emotions through melody.
Music Styles and Genres:
Exploration of different styles
including classical, pop, rock, blues,
jazz, and folk. Learning to adapt
techniques for each genre on guitar
and piano.
Improvisation and Soloing:
Introduction to improvisation and
solo techniques. Practice improvising
over simple chord progressions and
using scales for creating solos.
Rhythm and Timing:
Mastering basic rhythmic patterns
and time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 6/8,
etc.). Practice of strumming, plucking,
and fingerstyle techniques on guitar,
and proper hand coordination on
piano.
Ear Training:
Developing the ability to recognize
intervals, chords, and melodies by
ear. Strengthening your overall
musicality and improvisational skills.
Practical:
Basic Finger Exercises:
Focus on developing finger strength
and dexterity, both for guitar (fretting
and strumming/picking) and piano
(scales and hand coordination).
Chord Progressions:
Practice of basic chord progressions
on both instruments. Transitioning
smoothly between chords and
understanding chord functions.
Simple Songs:
Learn to play a selection of simple
songs, ranging from classical pieces
to popular songs, to apply theoretical
knowledge.
Advanced Techniques:
Practice advanced techniques on
both guitar and piano such as
fingerstyle guitar, barre chords,
sweep picking, and piano pedaling.
Accompaniment Styles:
Learn how to accompany yourself or
others using both instruments.
Develop the skill of playing chords
while singing or playing melody lines.
Duets/Ensemble Playing:
Collaboration with another musician
in duets or group settings. Develop
the ability to play in time with others
and adapt to different musical parts.
Music Performance:
Preparation for performance, both
solo and in groups. Focus on stage
presence, expressiveness, and
confidence.

modified based on the individual needs
and progress of the student. It is
